LANDMARKS
In Japan a very important landmark is Mount Fuji. The shape is very unique and appears different from any other mountain. A lot of people could recognize it when shown a picture. Mount Fuji symbolizes Japan. When people first climbed Mount Fuji they did it as a religious pilgrimage. About 200 000 make their pilgrimage in the official season from July to August. You can see Mount Fuji best in the morning when the air is clear. There is an old saying “Every Japanese should climb Mount Fuji, but only a fool climbs it twice”.

The purpose of shrines and statues is to have a place where interaction between Divine Energy and Human Energy can take place so someone can get in touch with the energy of Great Spiritual Beings, like Buddha. Some examples of shrines are The Meiji Shrine, which is the largest Shinto shrine in Japan, and The Miyajima Shrine which is the most famous. Some famous Buddha statues are The Great Buddha and The Golden Buddha.
